What children experience

Every 90-minute lesson follows our 4S framework, moving from Story to Sound, Sense and Share. Classes have a maximum of six children.

  • A teacher and three children leaning in to look at a storybook together

    Story

    Discover the story

Follow story clues, predict what happens next and talk about characters and events.

  • A child arranging magnetic letters to spell the word bug on a whiteboard

    Sound

    Explore sounds and words

Practise phonics by blending, segmenting, decoding and spelling words drawn from each story.

  • A child tracing shapes and story words on a StoryQuest worksheet

    Sense

    Make meaning

Build vocabulary, answer questions about the story and connect ideas from beginning to end.

  • A smiling child holding up colourful paper leaves, beside a StoryQuest reader

    Share

    Share and create

Retell stories, discuss ideas and create spoken and written responses of their own.

Watch a StoryQuest moment

A student matches common sight words such as “the”, “and” and “they”, part of the Sound stage of every lesson.

Which level suits your child?

StoryQuest has two levels, so each child can start at a comfortable point.

New students in N1 and N2

StoryQuest Foundation

The starting level for children new to Mind Stretcher who are in Nursery 1 or Nursery 2.

New students in K1 and K2

StoryQuest Independent

The starting level for children new to Mind Stretcher who are in Kindergarten 1 or Kindergarten 2.

Already a Mind Stretcher Phonics & Reading student?

We highly recommend StoryQuest for current students, because it builds on what they have already learnt. Your child should continue with their existing class until they complete their current Phonics & Reading level, then join StoryQuest based on their next level. Please check with your centre to confirm which StoryQuest level is right for your child and when they can move across.

The StoryQuest library

Six stories to read and revisit

Every child receives all six readers in the StoryQuest Welcome Kit, so families can return to the characters, ideas and new words together at home.

  • Three children by a large tree, holding up leaves marked with the letters C and A
    The Letter Leaves
  • A ladybird sharing a glowing evening by the water with woodland friends
    The Bug and the Breeze
  • Mia discovering a treasure chest in a magical jungle
    Mia’s Magical Jungle Quest
  • Colourful friends sharing a hug in a garden
    The Friends in Colour Land
  • A rabbit in a blue scarf with a hedgehog and a robin in a flowery meadow
    Bimblekin’s Big Kind Day
  • Benny celebrating with friends in a cottage garden at sunset
    Benny’s Wishy Washy Wish

All six readers are included in the Welcome Kit, even for children who join after the programme has started.

Questions parents ask

What is Love to Read?

Love to Read is Mind Stretcher’s Phonics & Reading programme for young children. Its enhanced, story-led lessons begin in January 2027. Phonics remains a strong foundation, with more time for reading stories, building vocabulary, understanding what children read, discussing ideas and expressing themselves.

How does StoryQuest relate to Love to Read?

StoryQuest is a bridging programme into Love to Read. It brings the same story-led approach to weekly classes from 5 October to 27 December 2026, before Love to Read begins in January 2027.

Is StoryQuest a holiday camp?

No. StoryQuest is a weekly bridging programme with one 90-minute lesson each week from 5 October to 27 December 2026.

Which level will my child join?

If your child is new to Mind Stretcher, children in N1 and N2 join StoryQuest Foundation, and children in K1 and K2 join StoryQuest Independent. If your child already attends Phonics & Reading, they join StoryQuest based on their next level. Please check with your centre to confirm which level that is.

Can my child join after the programme has started?

Yes, subject to class availability. Current Phonics & Reading students join once they complete their current level. Your child will still receive all six readers in the Welcome Kit.

How is the promotional fee worked out?

Children who start before 2 November 2026 and pay upfront for all remaining lessons pay $49.05 per week, inclusive of GST. The total is based on the number of lessons from your child’s start date to 27 December 2026.

What if my child starts on or after 2 November?

Normal monthly fees apply, based on $54.50 per academic week for weekday classes or $59.95 per academic week for weekend classes.

Is phonics still part of the lessons?

Yes. Phonics remains a strong foundation. In each lesson children blend, segment, decode and spell words drawn from the story, alongside vocabulary, comprehension, speaking and writing.

Where are StoryQuest classes held?

At four Mind Stretcher centres: Le Quest Mall, The Woodleigh Mall, Punggol Coast Mall and The Seletar Mall.

What if my child cannot attend StoryQuest?

Children who are unable to attend StoryQuest can still join Love to Read in January 2027.
